Laura Hollingsworth is President of the Tennessean and TN Media in Nashville, TN. In addition, she is President of the USA TODAY Network of Tennessee, with oversight responsibilities for six media markets in the state: Memphis (Commercial Appeal), Knoxville (News-Sentinel), Jackson (Sun), Murfreesboro (Daily News Journal) and Clarksville. She joined the Gannett Company, which owns The Tennessean, in June, 1989 and worked in Wisconsin, Washington State, Illinois, Michigan and Iowa markets in progressive leadership positions. She was President and Publisher of Des Moines Register Media as well as Central Region President for Gannett for six years prior to coming to Nashville in May of 2013.
Hollingsworth won the prestigious Gannett President’s Ring award for outstanding achievement six times and is a Chairman’s award recipient, Gannett’s highest recognition. Earlier in her career, she was named by Press Time Magazine as an industry leader in their “20 under 40” edition. In 2010, she was profiled in the book “Transforming Leaders into Progress Makers – Leadership for the 21st Century.” In April, 2011 she was recognized by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with its Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2012, she was named an “Iowa Woman of Influence” by the Des Moines Business Record. Laura is a frequent public speaker, particularly on the topics of media, transformation and change leadership.
